An exceptional pitcher of the French Restoration Period (end of the first quarter of the 19th century) from the celebrated Palais Royal shop l’Escalier de Cristal or "The Crystal Staircase.”
The Widow Desarnaux owned this shop and oversaw the designs for cristal objects with gilded bronze mounts. She ordered her crystal from the Baccarat or Le Creusot manufactory. Her most famous creation is the dressing table for the Duchess of Berry in crystal and gilded bronze, now in the Louvre.
